Reality show producers of hit show ‘Jersey Shores’ on MTV are “looking for interesting, attractive, colorful Asian-Americans to cast in a reality show similar to Jersey Shore, Real World, The Hills...
- …we need attractive Asian-Americans with lively, strong, and unique personalities between the ages of 18 to 30 with equally interesting life stories and perspectives to share, especially individuals who know about and/or experienced the Koreatown life.”
Thats insanely cool! NOT!
The casting isn’t limited strictly to Asian-Americans either.
“If you are not Asian but are obsessed with Asian culture or people in some way, email us and please explain,” the Craiglist advert read.

HMM well it looks like The Italians from Jersey Shores aren’t the only ethnic group being expoilted for the so called ‘realitiies’ of sub cultures. Asians in Koreatown in the States is a target for strereotyping now and looks like it will be one hell of a fun ride for casting.
Back to the past reality shows which somehow ended up as super hits . The shows made stars like Heidi Montag, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port.
‘The Hills’ was in actual fact a spin off from ‘Laguna Beach’ which was created because it was a supposebly real look at Orange County kids influenced very much by another teen drama THE OC starring Mischa Barton& Adam Brody.
’The Hills’ was all about the wholesome L.A lifestyle starring a bunch of blonde girls at their social parties and indulgent lifestyles getting their way through fashion school and dealing with their ‘real’ world. ‘The City’ was a spin off from ‘The Hills’ based in NYC; a teen version of Sex and City meets fashion world interns. “Jersey Shores” about Italians living in the Jersey Shores being douchebags and all about looking good weight training and everything Italian.
Until now the Asians are next for Tyrese who will be producing the Asian American version based on Koreans! I hope the series will be a full fledge ongoing series because this will be a revolution in TV broadcasting since Vietnamese fame whore TILA Tequila Nguyen’s ‘MTV ONE SHOT AT LOVE’.
Fingers cross it won’t be bunch of douce-bags auditioning for the show casting similar to those guido-esque Jersey Shore’s characters. But I bet the casting execs will be looking for Asian douche-bags or will they look for Asian geeks? Who knows. The result will be enticing.
PS: If Australian TV producers created a bunch of reality shows equivalent to MTV past hits here is a suggested list that will surely give a good look at the sub cultures in Sydney.
There will be ‘Cronulla Beach’ a look at the kids from the Shire ( ala Laguna beach) as the starting point then a spin off called ‘The Hills District’ a look at kids who hang out in Castle Towers (ala Lauren Conrad’s ‘The Hills’).
Then as a spin off ‘The City of Sydney’ a look at the Sydney socialites who hang at the IVY and The Establishment (ala Whitney Port’s ‘The City’) then you will have ‘Norton St’ ala ‘Jersey Shores’ which take on Italian stereotypes in the Inner west of Sydney but then there is also room for ‘North Shores’ a take on typical reality show about North Shore kids in Sydney.
As far as the Asians are concern a take on Strathfield(Koreatown) or even Cabramatta(VietTown). Anyone wanting to grab a video camera and start filming their own realities? Maybe not.
