The Jersey Shore Goes Asian?
Written by XiXi YangAs we mentioned last night on Kyle Sherman Live radio show, a casting call has gone out in LA looking for "interesting, attractive, colorful Asian-Americans" to star in a reality show in the style of Jersey Shore and The Real World. I made a joke about seeing a similar ad on Craigslist, and some of my friends (can you blame them?) told me afterwords that the ad was actually posted on Craigslist!
The notice said,
"We need attractive Asian-Americans with lively, strong, and unique personalities between the ages of 18 to 30 with equally interesting life stories and perspectives to share, especially individuals who know about and/or experienced the Koreatown life."
The show is even looking for non-Asians!
"If you are not Asian but are obsessed with Asian culture or people in some way, email us and please explain."
This is crazy but it sounds like a perfect trainwreck of a concept for a reality show! The Asian culture is especially interesting because there are so many sub-cultures. One thing is for sure: the conservative Asian-American communities would really flip out.
